What is DA and PA in SEO and the difference between them. 

I would like to start this post with a question, If I ask you to place a bunch of people you know, in an ascending order, who are the ones you would place and in which positions?, obviously the names of only those people would appear first on the list, who have had some relevance in your life, whom you know for their popularity in your life right? The same is with Google.

There are certain metrics based on which, Google ranks a website, one such metrics is the DA and PA of a website, The higher the DA and PA of a website the more are the chances for it to rank on the first page on Google, SEO Experts try to increase the DA and PA of a website, so that it ranks well in the SERP, DA or Domain authority & PA or Page Authority decides the trustworthiness of a website.

But DA and PA is just one of the factors for ranking of website, there are other factors also, such as content, relevancy of a website, proper usage of alt tags etc, etc, but that’s another subject matter we will talk about some other day.

Domain Authority –

Domain Authority – Domain Authority is a trustworthiness score developed by MOZ, Domain Authority or DA defines the strength or ability of a website to rank on the search engine results page (SERP), and depending on the score a website is likely to rank, the higher the score, the better is the page rank, the score ranges from 1 to 100, DA score is improved by SEO Experts using High DA backlinks from other High DA websites, using various methods, but increasing the DA & PA of a Website should not be the only goal of a SEO Expert though.

Page Authority – 

Page Authority – Page Authority denotes the page authority of individual pages within a website, now its score also varies from 1 to 100 and it’s also a metric developed by Moz, but unlike DA, PA is determined by the number of High DA links from High DA Websites pointing to a particular page within a website. This metrics is also increased by proper link building methodologies.

Conclusion –

Increasing the DA and PA of a website should not be the only motive, some websites with low DA and PA gets ranked on the first page in SERP and that’s because the content in that particular website is more relevant or sensible for Google, so efforts should be made to improve the content of a website not the DA & PA only.
